Ash Wednesday

Wednesday, February 17th: 7am, 8am, 12pm, 6pm, and 7pm.

As we approach the season of Lent I would like to invite all to sign up for one of the Masses on Ash Wednesday, February 17th: 7:00 am; 8:00 am; Noon; 6:00 pm; 7:00 pm. The masses will be short, with ashes being distributed after a brief homily. The five masses will allow for a better distribution of people, ensuring proper distancing. I will have individual bags of ashes to be picked up at rectory for those wanting to give ashes to family members. They should not be distributed to anyone else.a

Each person will come forward as if going to Communion and I will use a Q TIP to mark each person’s forehead. This will be done in silence.Every person will receive a fresh Q TIP to ensure safety. Originally, we were told we could only “sprinkle” the ashes on top of each person’s head, but after careful consideration, the archdiocese is allowing the use of Q TIPS. I will dispose of the Q TIPs by burning them.

February is the month we pray for those who are sick and in need of healing, in honor of Our Lady of Lourdes. To honor this day, I will offer the Sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick after the 10:00 am Sunday, February 7th. The Sacrament will be celebrated safely in one’s car by entering the lot on Armitage Ave, be anointed if you wish, and then receive Holy Communion. If you are not going to be Anointed, you would simply receive Communion. I will wear a mask and shield, and anoint each person on the forehead and on the palms of both hands with a cotton ball. Each person will be Anointed with a fresh cotton ball.

During Lent, I will offer the Sacrament of Reconciliation, Confessions, on Tuesday’s from 6:00- 7:30 pm in the Parish Center. This will be done safely, individually and privately.

Peace to All,
Fr. Frank
