Wednesday of the Second Week of Easter

In today’s first reading the apostles find themselves in some hot water. After upsetting the local leaders by preaching, they find themselves in prison. Their fortunates are reversed though when an angel appears to them and lets them out of the jail. When opening the door for them the angel says “Go and take your place in the temple area, and tell the people everything about this life” They follow his direction and go out to the people to teach them about the good news.

I find the angel’s message to express an often overlooked element of evangelization. In my view, evangelization does not have to be arguments about what is and is not truth. It does not have to involve reading the bible. Evangelization can be telling someone about “your life.” By following the angel’s advice and sharing with others “this life” you can express what inspires faith, hope and love in your life. You can share what brings you joy everyday. In other words, by sharing the gifts God gives you with others, you are spreading the Good News that Jesus is alive and moving in our lives. Take a moment today to call someone you wouldn’t usually call and follow the Angel’s advice. Go and ‘tell them about this life."

God Bless,
Mark
