Welcome From Fr. Frank

The community of St. Teresa of Avila Parish welcomes you to its website. We are a Catholic community of believers bound to each other, to the community we serve, and to God through our faith, our hope for the future that awaits us in the Kingdom of God, and our love for each other and our God.

I hope your exploration of our website is helpful and leaves you with a desire to learn more about our little church in the big city. We welcome all who come to us.

St. Teresa Parish is located in the Lincoln Park area of Chicago. The neighborhood is home to a multitude of cultures from around the world. We embrace people of all ages, cultures, abilities, economic levels, genders, races, and sexual orientation, excluding no one.

Our mission is to serve the faith needs of our community so that each member knows God’s unconditional love. We serve God through service to others, using our own God-given talents to the best of our abilities.

We take seriously our commitment to the Gospel mandate to serve the poor. We maintain a food pantry and provide Loaves and Fishes Dinners for those who are less fortunate. Parishioners participate in the Christmas Giving Tree, Blood Drive, Aids Walk, School Supply Drive, Parish Sharing and clothing drives as well.

Addressing the poverty each of us experiences in our spirit, our soul, our mind, our heart, we look to our Adult Formation, Parish Mission, Adult Education, Catechesis of the Good Shepherd for Children and Prayer Groups as a means of nurturing us with God’s grace.

There is a measure of diversity we celebrate as a truly catholic community, with parishioners coming from Hispanic, Asian, African, European and Eastern European backgrounds.

We are especially grateful for our Sunday liturgies where we gather as the People of God, with all our faults and gifts, our abilities and our struggles, celebrating and thanking God for His love and being renewed by the Word of God and the Bread of Life.

Our hope is that you will find our website informative, enjoyable and helpful. Please feel welcome to join us for prayer and participation in any of aspect of our Parish life. We’ll save a place for you!
