Wednesday in the Octave of Easter

Every road we travel, every route we take, no matter where, we walk or traverse like those two disciples on the road to Emmaus. We are all oblivious, in way or another, to the presence of Christ walking with us. It often takes a stranger, a poor person, a beggar, a deranged person shouting obscenities at the El stop, a person asking for directions, the one serving us at the store register.... whoever the stranger is, that stranger can become Christ is His many disguises.

We simply have to become aware, open, to “recognizing” Christ who walks beside us in countless faces. Awareness is the heart of the spiritual life, a life that begs us to pray deeply and daily, to encounter Christ in the barren depths of desert prayer. We emerge from this daily encounter with the Risen Lord to journey on the ordinary routes of life... aware!!!

When we connect each person we meet with Christ, the inner compass of the heart moves our spirit to the center, the new Jerusalem, the place where Christ dwells. Every journey we make has the power to reorient our lives so that we are ALWAYS returning to the CENTER in absolute Joy. From this CENTER within our hearts we go back into the world spreading joy, kindness, peace, reconciliation.

Easter Joy,
