The word of today’s Gospel are a call to act on our faith. “I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirst and you gave me drink, I was I’ll or in prison and you visited me, I was a stranger and you welcomed me.” These words are etched on the windows of our church. May they be etched in your hearts.
Actions speak louder than words and they speak salvation. We will be judged by how well we respond to those who are vulnerable and need our humanity to comfort them. If you are baptized, a faithful church goer, celebrate Reconciliation regularly, pray devotion but do NOT follow your religious calling with concrete action to help the poor and needy, you might be very taken aback by the Lord’s response to you when you breath your last.
But if one is not baptized, not a church goer, but follows this beautiful teaching from Matthew’s gospel, Jesus, Himself, may very well embrace this person and carry that person into His Kingdom.
