St. John teaches us in today’s reading that we are all a work in progress: “Beloved, we are God’s children now, what we shall be has not yet been revealed .” God is always present to us, molding us, transforming us, allowing us gradually to change slowly becoming human images or reflections of Christ. To change is to grow.
God cannot be limited or controlled by definitions. Our relationship with God is dynamic, not static, which allows this relationship to deepen and change. When we surrender to this growing relationship, we are slowly becoming the creation God had planned, a plan unique to each person.
We are human works of art, and God is the Artist.
