Friday of the Fourth Week of Easter

What is the hardest part of being a Christian, a follower and disciple of Jesus? For me, it’s His teaching that HE is the way, the truth, and the life, and that we can’t connect with the Father without going through HIM. I struggle with this in ways that cause me doubts about evangelization. Why is Jesus the ONLY way to reach the Father? Why is Jesus the ONLY means to be saved?

I believe this to be the Truth, but with much struggle.

Can’t God save through Buddha, Allah, or any other “person” who is a bridge to His Being? Of course, salvation is truly and only through the Cross and Resurrection of Christ. I believe this to the core of my being, but I struggle with the implications of believing this in a society that disdains any universal claims to the truth. How can we evangelize, spread the Good news of Christ, without offending many? Perhaps we are afraid of the answer and are hesitant to accept the cost.

I pray that I will have the courage to be the disciple Christ wishes me to be, challenges, doubts and all... even rejection.

Peace,
Fr. Frank
