In the reading for this Feast of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, God is portrayed in the image of a parent holding an infant close to their cheek, smoothly caressing that infant. What a beautiful metaphor to experience our God, Jesus, whose Heart IS so large it embraces and caresses ALL of humanity, ALL of creation in His Love.
From the sacred Heart of Jesus flows Live like water and blood, streams of cleansing water and life giving blood. The other image of our God on this Feast, a historical event, is the crucifixion of Christ. The Heart of Jesus, His Love, led him to experience rejection, torture, suffering, abject loneliness and failure as he hung on the Cross in Love. His Heart, pierced by that soldier after death, flowed with an endless font of mercy and tenderness.
This Feast is for YOU, may you experience the deep Love Christ has for you... may you experience God like a parent tenderly caressing an infant.
Peace,
Fr. Frank
